One Communications is about to be the once-largest privately held regional provider of telecommunications services in the US. The company offers traditional and digital phone service and Internet connections to more than 110,000 small and midsized businesses, including other telecom carriers, in 18 states in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic, and upper Midwest. It also provides hosted enterprise switchboard and managed networking services. One Communications serves commercial customers in the food, sports, and financial services industries, among others, as well as municipalities and public sector agencies. In late 2010 the company agreed to be acquired by EarthLink for $370 million.
