The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is a holding company. The Company is engaged in the business of providing property and casualty insurance products and services. The Company operates through four segments, including Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Chaucer and Other. The Company�s Commercial Lines product suite provides agents and customers with products designed for small, middle and specialized markets. The Company�s Personal Lines coverage includes personal automobile, homeowners and other personal lines. The Chaucer segment consists of international business, which include marine and aviation, energy, property, the United Kingdom motor, and casualty and other. The Other segment consists of opus, which provides investment advisory services to affiliates and also manages approximately $1.4 billion of assets for unaffiliated institutions, such as insurance companies, retirement plans and foundations, earnings on holding company assets, and voluntary pools business.
