Sacred Heart Medical Center helps to ensure that the hearts of those who live in eastern Washington state stay healthy. Known as Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital, the hospital provides specialized services, including cardiovascular care, pediatrics, kidney transplants, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and women's health services. One of the largest hospitals in the Northwest, it has more than 640 beds and is affiliated with the University of Washington. It also operates nursing and assisted-living residential facilities for the elderly. The not-for-profit Catholic hospital was founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1886 and is part of Providence Health & Services.
