Hellman & Friedman has no trouble finding businesses to invest in. The private equity investment firm, which has raised and managed more than $16 billion in capital and invested in more than 50 companies since its 1984 founding, focuses on the financial services, professional services, information services, software, and media sectors in the US and Europe. Despite the range of industries, the company isn't loose with its money; it targets established companies with predictable revenue, and invests in only about five per year. It typically puts up between $300 million to $1 billion per transaction in buyouts, restructurings, and majority and minority investments.
