Two of the UK's oldest property companies merged to form Chesterton Humberts -- a company which offers residential properties for sale or lease. The firm additionally manages properties, offers advisory services, valuation and surveying. Founded in 1842, Humberts collapsed under the strain of the housing market slowdown and went into administration in 2008. It then sold most of its assets to international investment firm The Mercantile Group. Humberts merged with sister property firm Chesterton a year later. The deal brought together Humberts' expertise in the UK market and Chesterton's international network, which extends to France, Spain, Italy, Singapore, Australia, and the Middle East.
