Independent Bank Corporation is a bank holding company. The Company owns the outstanding stock of Independent Bank (the Bank). The Bank transacts business in the single industry of commercial banking. The Bank’s activities cover all phases of commercial banking, including checking and savings accounts, commercial lending, direct and indirect consumer financing, mortgage lending and safe deposit box services. The Bank’s mortgage lending activities are primarily conducted through a separate mortgage bank subsidiary. The Bank provides payment plans to consumers to purchase extended automobile warranties through Mepco Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of the Bank. In addition, the Bank offers title insurance services through a separate subsidiary and provides investment and insurance services through a third party agreement with PrimeVest Financial Services, Inc. The Bank does not offer trust services.
