Nuveen Diversified Dividend and Income Fund (the Fund) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to provide high current income and total return by investing primarily in a portfolio of dividend-paying common stocks, securities issued by real estate investment trusts (REITs), debt securities and other non-equity instruments that are issued by, or that are related to, government, government-related and supernational issuers located, or conducting their business, in emerging market countries (emerging markets debt and foreign corporate bonds) and senior loans. The Fund seeks to invest at least 40%, but not more than 70%, of its managed assets in equity security holdings, and at least 30%, but not more than 60% of its managed assets in debt security holdings. The Fund’s target weighting is approximately 50% equity and 50% debt. The Fund’s investment advisor is Nuveen Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nuveen Investments Inc.
