John Hancock Investors Trust (the Fund) is a closed-end diversified investment management company. The Fund’s primary investment objective is to generate income for distribution to its shareholders, with capital appreciation as a secondary objective. Its assets are invested in a diversified portfolio of debt securities, some of which may carry equity features. Up to 50% of the value of the Fund’s assets may be invested in restricted securities acquired through direct placement. The Fund may also invest in repurchase agreements. The securities owned by the Fund include corporate bonds, consumer discretionary, auto components, hotels, restaurants and leisure, household durables, leisure equipment, media, multiline retail, specialty retail, textiles, beverages, energy, energy equipment and services, oil, gas and fuels, financial and commercial banks. The Fund’s investment advisor is John Hancock Advisers, LLC, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation (MFC).
