John Hancock Income Securities Trust (the Fund) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund’s investment objective is to generate a high level of current income. The Fund invests in a diversified portfolio of freely marketable debt securities and may invest an amount not exceeding 20% of its assets in income-producing preferred and common stock. The Fund will invest at least 80% of net assets in income securities. Income securities will consist of marketable corporate debt securities, governmental obligations, and cash and commercial paper. At least 75% of the value of the Fund’s total assets will be represented by debt securities, which have, at the time of purchase, a rating within the four highest grades as determined by Moody’s Investors Service, Inc. or Standard & Poor’s Corporation. The Fund seeks to engage in short-term trading and may invest in repurchase agreements. The Fund’s investment advisor is John Hancock Advisers, LLC.
