ASB Financial Corp. is a thrift holding company whose principal activity is the ownership and management of its subsidiary American Savings Bank, fsb (the Bank), which is a federal savings bank. The Bank is primarily engaged in providing a range of banking and financial services to individual and corporate customers. The principal business of the Bank is the origination of loans secured by one- to four-family residential real estate loans. The Bank originates loans secured by multifamily residences (over four units) and nonresidential real estate and purchases interests in loans originated by other lenders secured by multifamily real estate and nonresidential real estate. In addition to real estate lending, the Bank invests in mortgage-backed securities, the United States Government and agency obligations, municipal bonds and other investments. Funds for lending and other investment activities are obtained primarily from deposits and from borrowings from the Federal Home Loan Bank.
