Description

Katanga Mining Limited (Katanga), through Kamoto Copper Company SARL (KCC) and DRC Copper and Cobalt Project SARL (DCP), is engaged in copper and cobalt mining, and related activities. KCC and DCP operate on adjacent properties in the Democratic Republic of Congo. KCC and DCP are engaged in the exploration, refurbishment and rehabilitation of the Kamoto/Dima mining complex (the Kamoto Project), and the copper and cobalt mines of KOV and Tilwezembe, respectively. The Kamoto Project includes exploration and mining properties, the Kamoto concentrator, the Luilu metallurgical plant, the Kamoto underground mine and two oxide open pit resources in the Kolwezi district of the Democratic Republic of Congo. On February 29, 2008, the Company acquired the remaining interest in Nikanor. In September 2009, the Company completed the acquisition of Kamoto Operating Limited from Wayland Management SA and Tain Holdings Limited.
