Kansas City Life Insurance Company (KCL) is a financial services company. The Company has three business segments: Individual Insurance, Group Insurance and Old American. The Individual Insurance segment consists of individual insurance products for both Kansas City Life and Sunset Life. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Individual Insurance segment generated approximately 53% of consolidated insurance revenues. Also during 2008, the Group Insurance segment and the Old American segment accounted for 21% and 26% of consolidated insurance revenues, respectively. The Company operates in the life insurance sector of the financial services industry in the United States. KCL primarily consists of three life insurance companies: Kansas City Life Insurance Company (Kansas City Life) the parent company, and wholly owned subsidiaries Sunset Life Insurance Company of America (Sunset Life) and Old American Insurance Company (Old American).
