DWS Strategic Income Trust (the Fund) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to provide high current income by investing its assets in a combination of lower-rated corporate fixed-income securities; fixed-income securities of emerging markets and other foreign issuers, and fixed-income securities of the United States Government and its agencies, and instrumentalities and mortgage-backed issuers. The Fund’s portfolio includes corporate bonds, government and agency obligations, loan participants and assignments, and cash equivalents. The Fund invests in various sectors, including financials, emerging market sovereign bonds, consumer discretionary, energy, materials, utilities, industrials, telecommunication services, information technology, healthcare, information technology and consumer staples. Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. serves as the investment advisor of the Fund.
