Description

The Weir Group PLC is engaged in the provision of specialized mechanical engineering solutions for a diversified range of industrial and geographic markets. It operates in three segments. The Oil and Gas Division manufactures pumps and ancillary equipment and provides aftermarket support for the upstream and downstream oil and gas markets. The Minerals Division designs and manufactures pumps, hydrocyclones, valves and other equipment with primary sales to the mining, flue gas desulphurisation and oil sands markets. The Power and Industrial Division designs, manufactures and provides aftermarket support for rotating and flow control equipment to the global power generation and industrial sectors. On June 24, 2008, it acquired Mesa Manufacturing Inc. On July 4, 2008, it acquired a 75% interest in Standard Oilfield Services Limited. In September 2008, it disposed Weir Process Equipment Canada to Wajax Income Fund.
