R.E.A. Holdings plc is engaged in the cultivation of oil palms in the province of East Kalimantan in Indonesia, and in the production of crude palm oil (CPO) and by-products from fruit harvested from its oil palms. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company's crop out-turn amounted to 450,906 tons of oil palm fresh fruit bunches. Yield per hectare in 2008 was 27.3 tons. Crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) production for 2008 amounted to 8,190 tons. During 2008, the Company also developed a coal mining operation based in East Kalimantan. The Company operates its own fleet of barges for transport of CPO and CPKO. The fleet comprises one barge of 3,00o tons, which it time charters, and a number of smaller barges, each of 2,000 tons or less, which are owned by the Company. The smaller barges are used for transporting plam products. The 3,000 ton barge can be used for sea voyages to Malaysia and other parts of Indonesia.
