Manas Petroleum Corporation is engaged in the business of exploring for oil and gases, primarily in Central and East Asia. As of December 31, 2011, the Company focused primarily on projects located in certain geographic regions. The Company carries out its operations both directly and through participation in ventures with other oil and gas companies. The Company is engaged in projects in Mongolia and Tajikistan. In addition, the Company owns shares of Petromanas Energy Inc., which is engaged in oil and gas activities in Albania, and shares of CJSC South Petroleum Company, which is engaged in a project in the Kyrgyz Republic. Manas Management Services Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, owns 99% of Manas Energia Chile Limitada. Manas Energia Chile Limitada, on April 14, 2011, transferred its rights and interests of a project located in Chile to Methanex Chile S.A. and Wintershall Chile Limitada. The Company owns 100% of DWM Energy AG (formerly Manas Petroleum AG).
