MPL Communications Inc. (MPL) is engaged in the publication of printed periodicals and electronic information services. MPL is an investment advisory publisher of nine investment advisory newsletters, an investment newspaper published twice monthly, three investment advisory Websites and an online equity research service. MPL also publishes two non-financial newsletters for health and dental professionals. Almost all of the Company's subscribers are located in Canada. MPL generates revenue primarily from subscription sales of its periodical publications and electronic services. Ancillary revenue is produced by sales of display and inserts advertisements, mailing list rentals to other direct mail marketers and single copy sales on newsstands and of reprints. The Company owns 100% interest in MPL Asset management Inc. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company’s subscription revenue accounted for approximately 89.2% of total revenue.
