The investment seeks safety of principal and high current income that is exempt from federal and California income taxes. Under normal market conditions, the portfolio invests at least 80% of the assets in debt securities with interest payments exempt from federal and California income taxes. Cities, counties and other municipalities in California and U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, usually issue these securities. The fund will typically invest in California municipal securities with maturities of seven or more years. It will maintain a weighted average maturity of ten or more years.
