The development of the theory of evolution traces its roots to the Galapagos Islands. For many residents Fort Collins, Colorado, area, the evolution of waste collection and disposal in that region can be traced to the Gallegos family. Gallegos Sanitation provides collection and hauling of solid waste and recyclable materials in Fort Collins and nearby communities such as Greeley and Windsor. Founded in 1959 by Edward Gallegos and sons Arthur, Gerald, and Rudy, the company is owned and operated by the Gallegos family. The local, minority-owned business was incorporated in 1983.
