Description

Acacia Research Corporation, through its operating subsidiaries, acquires, develops, licenses and enforces patented technologies. Its operating subsidiaries generate revenues and related cash flows from the granting of rights for the use of patented technologies, which its operating subsidiaries own or control. Its operating subsidiaries assist patent owners with the prosecution and development of their patent portfolios, the protection of their patented inventions from unauthorized use, the generation of licensing revenue from users of their patented technologies. In September 2012, its subsidiary acquired 23 patents covering gas heating and cooling control systems, and patents for radio frequency modulation technology. In October 2012, it acquired seven patent portfolios with over 1,900 patents and applications. In December 2012, its subsidiary acquired rights to patents in the orthopedic technology sector and patents for Wireless Infrastructure and User Equipment Technology.
