Description

Alico, Inc. (Alico) is an agribusiness and land management company. Alico is engaged in citrus groves, improved farmland including sugar cane, cattle ranching and conservation and related support operations. It receives royalties from rock mining and oil production. The Company operates in five segments: Citrus Groves, Improved Farmland, Ranch and Conservation, Agricultural Supply Chain Management and Other Operations. As of September 30, 2011, it owned approximately 130,800 acres of land located in Alachua, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee and Polk Counties. The Company manages its land based upon its primary usage and reviews its performance based upon three classifications, which include Citrus Groves, Improved Farmland and Ranch and Conservation. It operates an Agricultural Supply Chain Management business that is not tied directly to its land holdings and Other Operations that include leasing mines and oil extraction rights to third parties.
