American Public Education, Inc. is a provider of online postsecondary education with an emphasis on serving the needs of the military and public service communities. The Company operates through two universities: American Military University (AMU), and American Public University (APU). Together, AMU and APU constitute the American Public University System (APUS). The Company's universities curriculum include 87 degree programs and 69 certificate programs in disciplines related to national security, military studies, intelligence, homeland security, criminal justice, technology, business administration, education, nursing, and liberal arts. The Company serves approximately 127,000 students living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in the United States, as well as in various international locations. In November 2013, American Public Education Inc acquired National Education Seminars Inc.
