Artes Medical, Inc. is a medical technology company focused on the development, manufacture and commercialization of a new category of injectable aesthetic products for the dermatology and plastic surgery markets, principally in the United States. The Company’s initial product, ArteFill, is a non-resorbable aesthetic injectable implant for the correction of facial wrinkles known as smile lines, or nasolabial folds. Artes Medical received approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration to market ArteFill in October 2006, and commenced commercial shipments of ArteFill during the year ended December 2007.
