Books-A-Million, Inc. is a book retailer primarily located in the eastern United States. The Company operates both superstores and traditional bookstores. The Company is engaged in the sale of books, magazines, games, toys and related items through a chain of retail bookstores. It operates in two segments: retail trade and electronic commerce trade. As of January 28, 2012, the Company operated 257 bookstores in 31 states and the District of Columbia. Of the 257 stores, 204 are superstores, which operated under the names Books-A-Million (BAM!), Books & Co. and 2nd & Charles, and 53 are traditional stores, which operated under the Bookland and Books-A-Million names. In addition to the retail store formats, the Company offers its products over the Internet at www.booksamillion.com. The Company�s subsidiaries include American Wholesale Book Company, Inc., Booksamillion.com, Inc., BAM Card Services, LLC and AL Florence Realty 2010, LLC.
