Coherent, Inc. (Coherent) is a suppliers of photonics-based solutions in a range of commercial and scientific research applications. The Company designs , manufacture, service and markets lasers and related accessories for a group of customers. The Company is organized into two operating segments: Commercial Lasers and Components (CLC) and Specialty Lasers and Systems (SLS). CLC's markets include materials processing, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components and instrumentation and microelectronics. SLS develops and manufactures configurable, advanced performance products serving the microelectronics, scientific research and government programs and OEM components and instrumentation markets. The Company's products address a range of applications the Company group into the four markets: Microelectronics, Materials Processing, OEM Components and Instrumentation, and Scientific Research and Government Programs. In December 2012, the Company acquired Lumera Laser GmbH.
