Charles & Colvard, Ltd. (Charles & Colvard) manufactures, markets, and distributes Charles & Colvard Created Moissanite jewels (which we refer to as moissanite or moissanite jewels) and finished jewelry featuring moissanite for sale in the worldwide jewelry market. Moissanite, also known by its chemical name of silicon carbide (SiC) is a rare mineral first discovered in a meteor crater. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company began selling finished jewelry featuring moissanite on several television shopping networks, including ShopNBC, Jewelry Television, and Posh TV in the United States and Ideal World in the United Kingdom. As of December 31, 2010, its e-commerce Website, www.moissanite.com, was under development. In October 2011, the Company announced the launch of Lulu Avenue.
