First Community Bancshares, Inc. is a financial holding company. The Company serves as the holding company for First Community Bank (the Bank). It also owns Greenpoint Insurance Group, Inc., a full-service insurance agency. The Bank owns Investment Planning Consultants, an investment advisory firm. Through its subsidiaries, the Company offers commercial and consumer banking services and products, as well as wealth management and insurance services. Those products and services include demand deposit accounts, savings and money market accounts, certificates of deposit, and individual retirement arrangements; commercial, consumer, real estate mortgage loans, and lines of credit; various debit card and automated teller machine card services; corporate and personal trust services; investment management services, and life, health, and property and casualty insurance products. The Company operates in two business segments: community banking and insurance services.
