SmartHeat Inc. (SmartHeat) designs, manufactures and sells clean technology plate heat exchangers and related systems in the People�s Republic of China (China). SmartHeat design, manufacture, sell and service plate heat exchangers (PHEs), PHE Units and heat meters. SmartHeat also designs, manufactures and sells spiral heat exchangers and tube heat exchangers. Its products and systems are used in energy conversion for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and industrial use in petroleum refining, petrochemicals, metallurgy, food and beverage and chemical processing. Its PHE Units are designed by its own in-house engineers and sold under its Taiyu brand name, while the Company�s PHEs are sold under both its Taiyu brand, as well as the Sondex brand name. It is a dealer of Sondex PHEs in China. On March 3, 2011, the Company acquired Gustrower Warmepumpen GmbH (GWP), a designer and manufacturer of high efficiency heat pumps, from Conergy AG.
