China Lodging Group, Limited (China Lodging) operates hotel chain in China with leased-and-operated and franchised-and-managed models. Under the lease-and-operate model, the Company directly operates hotels typically located in leased premises. Under the franchise-and-manage model, the Company manages franchised hotels and collect fees from franchisees. As of December 31, 2010, the Company had 243 leased-and-operated hotels and 195 franchised-and-managed hotels. In addition, as of December 31, 2010, the Company had 69 leased-and-operated hotels and 93 franchised-and-managed hotels under development. During the year ended December 31, 2010, approximately 73% of its room nights were sold to members of HanTing Club, its loyalty program. As of December 31, 2010, China Lodging operated 438 hotels in 65 cities in China. During 2010, the Company acquired nine individual hotels in the leased-and-operated hotel business.
