Life Technologies Corp., formerly Invitrogen Corporation is a global biotechnology tools company. The Company delivers a range of products and services, including systems, instruments, reagents, and custom services. Its portfolio of products includes technologies for capillary electrophoresis based sequencing, next generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, sample preparation, cell culture, ribonucleic acid (RNA) interference analysis, functional genomics research, proteomics and cell biology applications, as well as clinical diagnostic applications and water testing analysis. The Company also gives its customers purchasing options through its 3,000 sales and service professionals, e commerce capabilities and onsite supply center solutions. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company divided its business into three principal business segments, BioDiscovery, Cell Systems and Applied Biosystems. In August 2009, the Company sold its SQL LIMS business to LabVantage Solutions, Inc.
