Mitcham Industries, Inc. is engaged in leasing and selling geophysical and other equipment used by seismic data acquisition contractors to perform seismic data acquisition surveys on land, in transition zones (marsh and shallow water areas) and deep water marine areas. The Company operates in two business segments: Equipment Leasing and Manufacturing. The Company's Equipment Leasing segment is engaged in the leasing of seismic equipment to companies in the oil and gas industry across the world. The Company conducts its leasing business through its wholly owned subsidiaries and its branches in Colombia and Peru. Its Manufacturing segment (Seamap Segment) is engaged in the design, production and sale of marine seismic equipment. The operations of this segment are conducted through the Company's wholly owned subsidiaries, Seamap (UK) Ltd. and Seamap Pte. Ltd. The Company owns a range of equipment acquired from the seismic manufacturers.
