Marshall Edwards, Inc. is a developmental-stage pharmaceutical company. The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Novogen Limited (Novogen). As of June 30, 2009, Novogen owned approximately 71.3% interest in the Company. The Company is engaged in the clinical development and commercialization of a drug candidate called phenoxodiol, which it has licensed from a subsidiary of Novogen. It also licensed two other investigational anti-cancer compounds, triphendiol and NV-143, from Novogen. The Company has a third license agreement with Novogen for the oncology compound NV-128. NV-128 is an investigational cancer compound, which has been shown in pre-clinical laboratory studies to promote cancer cell death by targeting the specific protein regulatory pathway (AKT-mTOR pathway) in ovarian cancer cells that have become resistant to many drugs used to kill cancer cells.
