Description

New York Mortgage Trust, Inc. (NYMT), together with its consolidated subsidiaries, is a self-advised real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is engaged in acquiring and managing primarily residential adjustable-rate, hybrid adjustable-rate and fixed-rate mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by a United States Government agency, such as the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae), or a United States Government-sponsored entity (GSE or Agency), such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) or the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac), (collectively referred to as Agency RMBS), RMBS backed by prime jumbo and Alternative A-paper (Alt-A) mortgage loans (non-Agency RMBS), and prime credit quality residential adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) loans held in securitization trusts, or prime ARM loans.
