The third-party logistics provider's wholesale unit, Pacer Stacktrain, arranges intermodal transportation (movement of containerized freight by road and rail). Pacer Stacktrain's largely leased fleet includes 1,850 rail cars that can carry containers stacked two high and about 24,600 containers. Customers include intermodal marketing companies and international shipping companies. Pacer International's retail unit, Pacer Global Logistics, provides intermodal marketing, truck brokerage, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and supply chain management. New York investment firm Apollo Management owns 33% of Pacer International.
