Panera Bread Company (Panera) is a food service provider. Panera is a national bakery-cafe concept with 1,777 Company-owned and franchise-operated bakery-cafe. Panera operates under the Panera Bread, Saint Louis Bread Co. and Paradise Bakery & Cafe trademark names. The Company operates through three business segments: Company bakery-cafe operations, franchise operations and fresh dough and other product operations. The Company offers breakfast, lunch, gathering place, dinner and take home through both on premise sales and off-premise Panera Catering. The Franchise Operations segment consists of the operating activities of the franchise business unit, which licenses qualified operators to conduct business under the Panera Bread or Paradise Bakery & Cafe names. The Fresh Dough and Other Product Operations segment supplies fresh dough, produce, tuna, cream cheese and indirectly supplies sweet goods items to Company-owned and franchise-operated bakery-cafes.
