Description
Westmoreland Coal Company (Westmoreland) is an energy company. The Company�s operations include six surface coal mines in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and Texas, and two coal-fired power-generating units in North Carolina. The Company operates in two segments: coal and power segments. The Company�s property includes Absaloka, Savage, Jewett, Beulah and Kemmerer mine. The Company sells almost all of its coal and electricity production under long-term agreements. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company sold 21.8 million tons of coal. The Company�s subsidiaries include Westmoreland Resources, Inc. and Westmoreland Mining LLC (WML). On January 31, 2012, the Company completed the acquisition of Chevron Mining Inc.�s Kemmerer coal mine in Lincoln County, Wyoming.
