The New Jersey Turnpike Authority operates two toll-supported highways, the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. The New Jersey Turnpike runs for 148 miles, from the Delaware River Bridge at the southern end of the state to the George Washington Bridge that connects New Jersey with New York. The turnpike includes 12 rest stops, or service areas, named for former New Jersey residents such as Clara Barton, Grover Cleveland, Vince Lombardi, and Walt Whitman. The Garden State Parkway runs for 173 miles and spans the length of New Jersey's Atlantic coastline.
