Jay Shree Tea & Industries Limited is engaged in cultivation of tea and manufacturing of tea, chemicals and fertilizers, sugar, warehousing, and investing activities. The Company operates in four segments: tea, chemicals and fertilizers, sugar, and others. The Company manufactures single super phosphate and sulphuric acid. It also provides tea packaging and warehousing facilities at Kolkata and Kochi. The Company is also engaged in real estate business having developed several properties at prime locations of Kolkata and Bengaluru. The Company has joint venture operations for two of its tea estates at Rwanda and has acquired 100% stake in tea companies owning two tea estates in Uganda. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012 (fiscal 2012), tea accounted for 63%, chemicals and fertilizers 19%, sugar 17% and others 1% of the gross turnover. As of March 31, 2012, the Company had estates spread throughout India with total area of 9407 hectares under tea plantation.
