Gerdau SA (formerly Companhia Siderurgica da Guanabara - Cosigua) is a Brazil-based holding company engaged in the manufacture and sale of steel products. The Company and its subsidiaries produce long steel and flat steel items, principally through the process of fabrication in electrical furnaces from scrap metal and purchased pig iron, as well as by manufacturing steel from iron ore in the blast furnace and by direct reduction. The Company operates plants located in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela, the United States, Canada, Spain and India. Its products are distributed in various sectors, including construction, industrial, automotive and agricultural. As of December 31, 2011, the Company had a number of subsidiaries, including GTL Equity Investments Corp, Itaguai Comercio Importacao e Exportacao Ltda, Gerdau Acos Longos SA and Gerdau America Latina Participacoes SA, among others.
