MVC Capital provides equity and debt investment capital to fund growth, acquisitions and recapitalizations of small and middle-market companies in a variety of industries primarily located in the United States. MVC Capital investment objective is to seek to maximize total return from capital appreciation and/or income. It focuses on achieving its investment objective by providing equity and debt financing to companies that are, for the most part, privately owned (Portfolio Companies). As of October 31, 2009, its portfolio company investments consisted of common and preferred stock, other forms of equity interests and warrants or rights to acquire equity interests, senior and subordinated loans, and convertible securities.
