Description

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (Bio-Rad) manufactures and supplies the life science research, healthcare, analytical chemistry and other markets with a range of products and systems used to separate complex chemical and biological materials and to identify, analyze and purify their components. Bio-Rad operates in two segments: Life Science and Clinical Diagnostics. The Company�s Life Science segment and its Clinical Diagnostics segment generated 33% and 66%, respectively, of its net sales during the year ended December 31, 2011. It generated approximately 30% of its consolidated net sales during 2011 from the United States sales and approximately 70% from sales in its remaining worldwide markets. As of December 31, 2011, the Company had direct distribution channels in over 35 countries outside the United States through subsidiaries. In January 2013, the Company purchased AbD Serotec, a division of MorphoSys AG.
