Description

CAI International, Inc. is an equipment leasing and management company. The Company operates in the intermodal freight container leasing industry. The Company operates its business through two segments: equipment leasing and equipment management. The Company purchases new and used equipment, which it leases to container shipping lines, freight forwarders and other transportation companies and either retain as part of its owned fleet or sell to third-party investors. The Company in operating its fleet, it lease, re-lease and dispose of equipment and contract for the repair, repositioning and storage of equipment. The Company manages equipment for third-party investors under management agreements that cover portfolios of equipment. It also sells used equipment on behalf of third-party investors. As of December 31, 2013, the Company managed its equipment fleet through 273 independent equipment depot facilities located in 46 countries.
