CIT Group Inc. is a bank holding company (BHC) together with its owned subsidiaries (CIT), provides financing, leasing and advisory services principally to middle market companies. It operates in five segments: Corporate Finance, Transportation Finance, Trade Finance, Vendor Finance and Consumer. Corporate Finance provides a range of financing options and offers advisory services to small and medium size companies in the United States and Canada. Transportation Finance provides aircraft and railcar leasing and financing solutions to operators and suppliers in the global aviation and railcar industries. Trade Finance offers a range of domestic and international customized credit protection, lending and outsourcing services. Vendor Finance develops customized business solutions for SMEs, providing equipment financing and value-added services. The consumer segment consists of a portfolio of the United States Government-guaranteed student loans.
