CMS Energy Corporation (CMS Energy) is an energy company. CMS Energy, through its subsidiaries and equity investments, is engaged primarily in independent power production and owns power generation facilities fueled by natural gas and biomass. The Company is the parent holding company of subsidiaries, including Consumers Energy Company, an electric and gas utility, and CMS Enterprises Company, primarily a domestic independent power producer. The Company operates in three segments: consumers´┐Ż electric utility includes the generation, purchase, distribution and sale of electricity; consumers´┐Ż gas utility includes the purchase, transmission, storage, distribution and sale of natural gas, and enterprises (non-utility operations and investments), through subsidiaries and equity investments, is engaged in domestic independent power production and the marketing of independent power production.
