Description

Community Health Systems, Inc. is an operator of general acute care hospitals in communities. The Company provides healthcare services through the hospitals that it owns and operates and affiliated businesses in non-urban and selected urban markets throughout the United States. The Company operates through two segments: hospital operations and home care agencies operations. The hospital operations include its general acute care hospitals and related healthcare entities that provide inpatient and outpatient healthcare services. The home care agencies operations provide in-home outpatient care. The Company's services include general acute care, emergency room, general and specialty surgery, critical care, internal medicine, obstetrics, diagnostic, psychiatric and rehabilitation services. Through its subsidiaries, the Company owns, leases or operates 160 affiliated hospitals in 22 states with an aggregate of approximately 27,000 licensed beds.
