Description

The Empire District Electric Company is a regulated utility company. The Company is engaged in the generation, purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. It provides its services with in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. It operates its businesses in three segments: electric, gas and other. The electric segment provides water service to around three towns in Missouri. The Company through its wholly owned subsidiary, The Empire District Gas Company (EDG), is engaged in the distribution of natural gas in Missouri. Its other segment consists of fiber optics business. It supplies electric service at retail to around 119 incorporated communities and unincorporated areas and at wholesale to around four municipally owned distribution systems. It provides natural gas distribution to around 48 communities and 422 transportation customers. Its customers include residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
