Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (Endesa Chile) is Chile-based company primarily engaged in the generation and distribution of electric energy. The Company is a parent of Grupo Endesa Chile, a group which comprises a number of entities also active in the energy sector with operations established in Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Peru. The Company, along with its subsidiaries and affiliates, owns and operates approximately 179 hydroelectric, thermal and wind power generating units, which have a total installed capacity of more than 13,000 megawatts (MW). In addition, the Company is involved in the engineering and construction sector, as well as consultancy services. As of December 31, 2010, the Company�s majority shareholder was Enersis SA, with 59.98% of its interest.
