Guangshen Railway Company Limited is principally engaged in railway transportation services. The Company operates its businesses through passenger transportation, including operation of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Train, Hong Kong Through Train and long-distance train transportation; freight services, including Shenzhen-Guangzhou-Pingshi railway freight and Hong Kong through freight services; railway network usage and services, including locomotive traction services, track usage services, power contacting network usage services, drop and pull transport services, among others, as well as other businesses, including distribution of materials and supplies, locomotive maintenance, train food and beverage services, labor supplying and other railway related businesses. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company transported 90,827,938 passengers, and approximately 68,702,788 tons of cargo.
