Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (Havertysand) is a specialty retailer of residential furniture and accessories. It provides customers with a selection of products and styles primarily in the middle to upper-middle price ranges. It also offers financing through an internal revolving charge credit plan, as well as a third-party finance company. As of December 31, 2008, Havertysand operated 122 stores serving 80 cities in 17 states. The Company also distributes seasonal catalogs to selected consumers and uses direct mailers and newspaper inserts to reach consumers. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company mailed approximately 600,000 catalogs. It had 10 direct mail events with approximately 800,000 pieces mailed for each and distributed 134 million newspaper inserts in 2008.
