Description

Marathon Oil Corporation (Marathon Oil) is an international energy company engaged in exploration and production, oil sands mining and integrated gas with operations in the United States, Angola, Canada, Equatorial Guinea, Indonesia, the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Libya, Norway, Poland and the United Kingdom. The Company operates in three segments: Exploration and Production (E&P), Oil Sands Mining (OSM) and Integrated Gas (IG). On June 30, 2011, the spin-off of Marathon�s downstream business was completed, creating two independent energy companies: Marathon Oil and Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC). On January 3, 2012, the Company sold Poseidon Oil Pipeline Company, L.L.C. and Odyssey Pipeline L.L.C. and certain other oil pipeline interests, including the Eugene Island Pipeline System. In December 2011, it sold its 25% interest in the Stones prospect located on Walker Ridge Block 508. During the year ended December 31, 2011, it acquired Hilcorp Resources, LLC.
